Smelting Newsletter Issue 2 / 2018
Dear smelting customers,
It has been a while since Smelting Newsletter I/2018 was published, and a lot of things have happened in the intervening period.
We have carried out some restructuring at Outotec, with our Non-ferrous smelting and Ferroalloys businesses joining forces to form our new Smelting business line.
With the new name, new structure, and combined resources of both businesses, we now have our leading experts serving you across the entire field of smelting. In practice this means that regardless of whether you are dealing with flash smelting, flash converting, Peirce-Smith converting, TSL smelting, electric furnaces, fire refining, anode casting, Kaldo furnaces or steel belt sintering we have experts ready to serve you anywhere in the world. And in case I left something off that list please get in touch and we can discuss how we can support you.
On a personal level I am also exited to take on a new role as VP of the Smelting business line. This will give me a better opportunity to focus more on the smelting business while my colleague Juha Kemppainen will take care of your hydrometallurgy needs.
In this issue you can read stories about the development and evolution of our new and existing technologies. Personally, I am most excited about our new Outotec® MeltGuard, which we have developed to improve the safety of smelter operations. This product is part of our FAS 2020 (Fully Automated Smelter) concept, which will use automation to help move operators out of harm’s way.
Hopefully the articles in this issue will raise a lot of questions and ideas in your minds. My team and I are looking forward to serving you in the best possible way.
