Outotec® Electrorefining Process including Outotec® Material Handling System is a total solution for a modern tankhouse. It comprises Outotec® Permanent Cathodes, all tankhouse machines and material handling equipment with full automation, tankhouse process solution circulations including heating systems, addition agent mixing & feeding systems, anode slime treatment and electrolyte purification processes.
Outotec® Material Handling System consists of fully integrated material handling cranes, cathode stripping machines, anode handling machines, electrolytic cells, busbars and electrodes. It bridges mechanical equipment, automation and engineering experience with the latest process metallurgy know-how.
An overall data collection and reporting system, Outotec® Tankhouse Information Management System (TIMS), links all the key process equipment and material handling systems under one common operator interface and reporting system. The system consists of data collection, analyzing and reporting modules for stripping, anode preparation and scrap washing machines, as well as for tankhouse short-circuit detection and harvesting. TIMS also collects process relevant information and stores it in databases. This information can later be used for analyzing the performance of an individual cell or even individual cathode. In addition to the highest quality copper, significant savings in electricity, maintenance, personnel and investment costs are achieved.

Outotec® Electrorefining Process is designed as a complete concept for new refineries, but it can also easily be applied to upgrades and conversion solutions for existing facilities. We are also able to provide solutions from an upgrade of an existing single machine up to the turnkey delivery of a complete copper refining plant.
Outotec® Tankhouse System also supports technology for extended electrolytic cell sizes. Plant construction costs are lower and erection times are shorter because of the more compact tankhouse area.
