Outotec's Doré smelting with TROF converter has the advantage of considerably lower energy consumption than a conventional reverb furnace.
The TROF converter takes care of the smelting, reduction and refining steps in the same furnace, which is energy efficient. The compact TROF unit consists of a feeding unit, smooth tilting and a rotating converter. Doré anodes are casted with a special fully automated casting machine. Off-gases are led in a controlled way from the TROF into a bag filter.
Outotec will tailor-make the most optimal burner function to its customer's needs. An oxy-fuel burner is used for heating and either air or oxygen is used for the reaction. The gas is lead into the melt with an submerged lance, giving an high efficiency. The easy-to-use converter is controlled by a fully automatic unit, which means less maintenance and higher productivity.
