Floatex® Density Separator

Floatex® Density Separators/Classifiers are designed to produce an extremely sharp partition curve when classifying particles in the range between 20 mesh (840 µm) and 325 mesh (45 µm). The classification process takes place by hindered settling of larger, denser particles away from lighter, finer particles. Measuring the density in the teetering bed within the classifier and comparing it to a target value provides control at the discharge valve. The underflow product, comprising faster settling particles, is effectively dewatered.

Applications

  • Classify particles by size
  • Upgrade a feed consisting of two or more groups of particles (often minerals) of differing specific gravity
  • Use as a washing system for mineral sands, coal, etc.
  • De-grit kaolin and other fine clays

Benefits

  • Low to high capacity
  • Sharp classification
  • Low water consumption
  • Virtually no power consumption
  • High durability
  • Corrosion-resistant construction
