Wet High-Intensity Magnetic Separators

SLon® Vertically Pulsating High Grade Magnetic Separator

The SLon-100 unit is a batch-type, pulsating high gradient magnetic separator well suited for the wet beneficiation of fine weakly magnetic metallic ores. Its unique pulsating mechanism is infinitely variable in frequency and background to allow for flexibility in testing parameters. Through this pulsation, materials are allowed to build on all sides of the matrix, thus the tendency for clogging is greatly reduced, and the units are made more adaptable to changing particles sizes in the feed. Overall, the units provide testing stability, with high enrichment and a high beneficiation ratio while being easy to operate and maintain.

Applications

  • Iron oxide
  • Manganese
  • Wolframite
  • Ilmenite
  • Separation of wolframite from scheelite
  • Separation of wolframite from cassiterite
  • Deferrization and purification of non-metallic ores such as quartz, feldspar, nepheline syenite and kaolin.

Traditional WHIMS

The 3x4L is a popular batch-type High-Intensity Wet Magnetic Separator designed to separate paramagnetic materials from nonmagnetic materials.

The unit has a large separating chamber that can accept a variety of interchangeable pole media including soft iron spheres and stainless-steel wool depending on the application and magnetic gradient desired. Ferromagnetic material can be removed initially by operation at low current settings.

Standard supply includes three sizes of sphere media. Feeding is accomplished by introducing approximately 10-200 grams (dry weight) of material with water to provide for a density of 15-60 percent solids by weight into the separating chamber with media in place and coil current at desired settings.

Magnetic material will be retained in the chamber after flushing with water while nonmagnetic material will be collected in a product pan. The magnetic fraction can then be washed from the cell into a separate pan after the coil current has been turned off.

Applications

  • Iron ore: investigation and product control
  • Clay beneficiation: product control
  • Ilmenite stripping studies
  • Chromite
  • Uranium ores/residues
  • Gold residues

Option

  • Underfed magnet cell for retention-time studies
