As of April 24, 2007 Outokumpu Technology's global business name was changed to Outotec. At the listing of Outokumpu Technology Oyj in October 2006, it was agreed with the company's former parent Outokumpu Oyj that Outokumpu Technology would change its name.
The choice of name Outotec represents the company's evolution from a technology division within Outokumpu, through expansion and several acquisitions, to an independent listed company with its own brand values and visual identity. Outokumpu Technology was famous for its innovative and environmentally sound proprietary technologies, many of which had become industry benchmarks. Outotec is the name that has a strong link to the company's past and the expertise the customers have learned to trust.
Outotec will be providing the same products and services on which Outokumpu Technology had based its reputation on in the industry. With the new name, the company retains the keen vision to deliver ‘More out of ore’ to the benefit of all its stakeholders. Name Outotec unites all the company's global businesses and it provides a base for further growth. Outotec represents technology leadership, innovativeness, reliability, and collaborative spirit with customers - the same brand values as Outokumpu Technology was known for.
The team approach Outokumpu Technology had taken with its customers in order to maintain close ties and to establish long-term relationships had been proven successful. It had made the company a trusted partner in even the most demanding challenges. That is what Outotec wants to continue develop further.
