Turbo Pulp Lifters

The design of pulp lifter in combination with discharge grate affects the throughput as well as the energy efficiency of the SAG/AG grinding mills. Conventional pulp lifter designs have been proven to have unavoidable inherent material transport problems that lead to grinding inefficiency thus limiting the mill capacity.

One of the major problems is the slurry pooling, which is predominant in single stage AG/SAG mills that are operated in closed circuit  with classifiers and fine screens.  

A significant portion of impact energy gets dissipated into the dense slurry pool instead of being used to break the particles, causing  inefficient usage of grinding energy and thus leading to lower  capacity.

Another major inherent problem is the pebble accumulation or pooling that is predominant in AG/SAG mills in closed circuit with pebble crushers. The pebble accumulation reduces the flow gradient across the grate, thus increasing the mill load and rock-to-ball ratio and causing the mill to draw higher power.  

The inherent material transport problems also lead to over-grinding and generation of product with higher proportion of fines. This affects the efficiency of the subsequent operations such as classifier-ball mill circuits, flotation and other physical separation units.
