Outotec’s process solutions recover precious metals from anode slime produced in electrorefining plants. We offer two types of processes for this industry; both of which produce the same end products including selenium, silver, gold and platinum group metals also known as PGM.

In both Outotec processes, anode slime is leached to remove copper. Selenium is then recovered either from the off gases produced in the Kaldo Furnace, or from the selenium roasting furnace. Smelting, reduction and refining in either a Kaldo Furnace, or in a TROF converter produces dore metal. Silver is electrolytically refined from doré anodes. Gold and PGM metals are leached and precipitated from gold mud produced in silver electrorefining.
