Outotec has designed and supplied several Rod Brushing Systems to Smelters with both aluminum rods and copper rods of all sizes.
Systems have been supplied to accommodate rodshop cycle times as low as 15 seconds.
These fully automatic machines have been designed to remove oxides, carbon deposits from arcing, and setting reference marks from one to all four faces of the rod.
Benefits
- Removal of old setting reference marks minimizes the chances of errors during anode changes
- Removal of oxides from the rod surface provides a clean contact surface for clamping to the pot bus bar, thereby reducing the voltage drop across the pot
- The equipment is designed to clean the entire contact surface of the rod which will normally contact the bus bar during the life of the anode
