Flash Flotation or Flash Roughing® by the SkimAir® flotation machine takes place in the grinding stage. The liberated easy floating particles are recovered from the cyclone classifier sands and prevented from overgrinding.
The SkimAir® results in more stable feed to the conventional flotation circuit, improves plant dewatering and can improve grinding mill throughput.
In conventional Flash Flotation Outotec's SkimAir® produces a high grade concentrate.
In Flash Roughing® SkimAir® produces a lower grade concentrate at a high recovery. Flash roughing can comprise two stages: SkimAir® is used as the rougher and the closely linked TankCell® as the cleaner.
